PRUNE SPICE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. granulated sugar
2 lg. eggs, beaten well
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. liquid (1/2 milk, 1/2 prune cooking liquid)
3/4 c. chopped cooked prunes

Cream sugar and shortening together. Beat in eggs. Resift flour with baking powder, salt and spice. Blend into creamed mixture alternately with liquid. Fold in prunes.

Turn into greased and floured pan (8 inch layer cake pans). Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes, turn onto wire rack. Frost as desired.
