AUNT TOAD'S PRUNE CAKE 
1 c. Wesson oil
3 eggs
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. cooked prunes, diced
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. nuts, chopped

Blend sugar and oil. Blend in eggs, one at a time. Add dry ingredients with buttermilk. Mix well. Add nuts and vanilla. Add prunes last. Mix well and pour into cake pan. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Make Buttermilk Sauce and pour over cake with spoon, letting it soak in, while cake is still hot. Leave cake in pan.

BUTTERMILK SAUCE:

1 c. sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 stick butter
1 tbsp. white syrup
1/2 c. buttermilk

Mix syrup with buttermilk in saucepan. Add remaining ingredients and boil for 1 minute. Pour hot mixture over hot cake.
