5 oz. (5 sq.) unsweetened chocolate, cut into pieces 3/4 c. butter 1 tbsp. vanilla 2 1/4 c. sugar 4 eggs 1 1/3 c. Pillsbury's BEST All Purpose or Unbleached Flour 1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped nuts FROSTING: 1 1/2 c. powdered sugar 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa 1/4 c. butter, softened 2 tbsp. milk 1/2 tsp. vanilla Whole pecans or walnuts, if desired Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 13 x 9-inch pan. In small saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and 3/4 cup butter, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat. Stir in 1 tablespoon vanilla; set aside. In large bowl, combine sugar and eggs; beat about 7 minutes or until sugar is dissolved. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour, chocolate mixture and nuts to egg mixture; stir just until blended. Pour batter into greased pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes. DO NOT OVER BAKE. Cool completely. In small bowl, combine all frosting ingredients except pecans; blend until smooth. Frost cooled bars; refrigerate 1 hour. Cut into bars; garnish each bar with whole pecan. 24 bars. |
