1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
1 egg
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 c. flour

Cream sugar and Crisco. Add remaining ingredients. Roll out on large cookie sheet. Mark in 1/2" squares. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Watch carefully, do not let brown. Cool and cut into squares.
