1/2 c. butter 2 (1 oz.) sq. unsweetened chocolate 2 c. powdered sugar 3 egg yolks 1/2 c. walnuts 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3 egg whites 1 box vanilla wafers 1/4 c. butter 1/2 gal. vanilla ice cream Melt over low heat butter and chocolate; add sugar, egg yolks, walnuts and vanilla. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold in chocolate mixture and chill. Crunch box of wafers and mix with 1/2-3/4 stick of butter. Press 3/4 of the wafer mix into bottom of 9 x 13 inch pan. Spread chocolate over wafers. Spread softened ice cream over top. Sprinkle remaining wafers on top. Freeze. Serves 8-10. |
