MERKS COFFEE CAKE 
1 stick butter
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
12 oz. sour cream or 1 c. sour milk

SPICE MIXTURE:

2 tsp. cinnamon
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/2 stick butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. pecans

Cream together butter, sugar, and eggs; then add the dry ingredients alternately with the sour cream or sour milk. Mix well; then add vanilla. Grease and flour a tube or bundt cake pan. Pour half the batter into the pan and sprinkle with half of the spice mixture on top. Repeat layers with remaining batter and spice mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. This is a very moist cake which can be prepared 1 day, refrigerated, and baked the following morning.
