HOMEMADE DIRTY RICE | |
1 cup white rice 1/2 to 1 cup ground beef or crumbled (bulk) sausage 1 cup mixed vegetables (corn, carrots, string beans, etc) 4 tbsp. butter, divided 1 tbsp. crushed red pepper 1 tbsp. salt 2 tbsp. pepper dash of sugar Boil rice in about 4 quarts of water very good for about 20 minute adding salt and 2 tablespoons of butter along the way. In the meantime, cook your ground beef/sausage on the stove. Take rice out; drain most of water except for about 1 quart and pour over the meat. Put all remaining ingredients in, cover in skillet on simmer for 10 minutes stirring occasionally until all water is almost evaporated. Continue stirring adding back about of cup of water for an additional 2 to 3 minutes. Take off stove and let sit about 2 to 3 minutes and serve. Submitted by: E.W. |
