APPLE PIE CAKE WITH BUTTER RUM
SAUCE
 
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 beaten egg
1 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 1/2 c. finely diced apples
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Cream sugar and butter, add beaten egg. Add mixed dry ingredients, also apples and nuts. Put in large greased pie pan. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes at 325 degrees.

TOPPING:

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. coffee cream
1/2 to 1 tsp. rum flavoring

Melt butter, add sugars and cream. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and add rum flavoring. Serve the sauce warm; pour over the pieces after they are cut.
