2 sqs. unsweetened chocolate 1/2 c. (stick) butter 2 eggs 1 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour 1/8 tsp. salt 1 c. chopped walnuts (optional) 1. Melt chocolate with butter in a small saucepan. 2. Beat eggs until foamy in a large bowl; beat in sugar gradually until fluffy-thick (about 10 minutes). Stir in vanilla and chocolate mixture, then fold in flour, salt, and walnuts. Spread in greased baking pan (8 x 8 x 2 inches). 3. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) for 30 minutes or until shiny and firm on top. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack; cut into 2 inch squares. Makes 16 squares. |
