OLD-FASHIONED COFFEE CAKE 
1/2 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
3 c. flour, sifted
8 oz. sour cream
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until mixture is light and fluffy. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Combine baking soda and sour cream. Add alternately with flour. Add vanilla.

STREUSEL FOR COFFEE CAKE:

3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Grease and dust a Bundt or 10-inch tube pan. Sprinkle pan with 1/3 of streusel. Layer to finish. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Invert pan and cool.
