HUSH PUPPIES 
1 c. Auntry's Hush Puppy mix with onion
1/2 c. self-rising flour
1 beaten egg
3/4 to 1 c. buttermilk
1 med. chopped onion (more or less to taste)
1/4 c. chopped green pepper (optional)

In a large bowl, stir together the mix and flour. In a small bowl, mix milk and egg, then add to dry ingredients. Let rise to double size, about 20 to 30 minutes. Stir in chopped onions. Drop by teaspoon size balls into hot 375 degree vegetable oil and fry until golden brown.
