PIE CRUST COOKIES 
4 c. sifted flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk

Sift flour, sugar and salt into a mixing bowl. Add shortening and work very fine, as in making pastry. Combine the beaten eggs and buttermilk or sour milk. Add the baking soda and stir until foamy. Add to dry ingredients with the vanilla and mix well. Drop by heaping teaspoonful on greased cookie sheets. Bake in moderate oven at 350 degrees for about 12 to 15 minutes.
