LEMON BREAD - WITH POPPY SEEDS 
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
2 eggs
1/2 c. milk
Grated rind of 1 lemon
1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. 10x sugar
3 tbsp. lemon juice
1/3 c. poppy seeds

Cream shortening and sugar until light. Add eggs, milk and ground lemon rind, then flour and dry ingredients. Add poppy seed. Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees. Remove from pan while warm. Brush with 10x sugar and lemon juice mixed. Cool before cutting.
