BEST BRUNCH CASSEROLE | |
4 c. cubed white bread 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese 10 eggs, lightly beaten 4 c. milk 1 tsp. dry mustard powder 1 tsp. salt Dash of freshly ground pepper 1 sm. onion, chopped fine 8 to 10 slices of bacon, cooked & crumbled 1/2 c. sliced mushrooms 1/2 c. chopped tomato Butter a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Arrange bread cubes (Italian or French loaf works best) in dish and sprinkle with cheese. Beat together eggs, milk, mustard, salt and pepper and pour evenly over bread and cheese. Sprinkle with onion and bacon (optional), mushrooms and tomato. Cover with foil and chill up to 24 hours. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake casserole, covered, until set, about 1 hour. |
