CHINESE CHEWS 
3/4 c. butter
3 tbsp. white sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
3 eggs, separated
2 1/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. chopped nuts
3/4 c. fine coconut
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine butter and brown sugar. Add flour and pat into greased 10 1/2 x 15 1/2 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Separate eggs and beat yolks until thick and creamy. Add brown sugar, then chopped nuts and coconut. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Spread this mixture on baked mixture and bake for 25 additional minutes. Cut into squares while warm.
