PERFECT PIE CRUST | |
4 c. unsifted flour 1 tbsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt 1 3/4 c. solid vegetable shortening (Crisco) do not use oil, butter 1 tbsp. white or cider vinegar 1 lg. egg 1/2 c. water 1. Put first 3 ingredients in large bowl and mix well with fork. 2. Add shortening mix with fork until ingredients are crumbly. 3. In small bowl beat together with fork 1/2 cup water, vinegar and egg. 4. Combine 2 ingredients with fork until all is moistened. 5. Divide dough in 5 portions, shape with hands into a flat round patty ready for rolling. 6. Wrap each in plastic or waxed paper and chill at least 1/2 hour. These may be kept in refrigerator or freezer. Also they may be rolled and rerolled - will still bake beautifully. |
