CHINESE CHEWS 
A:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 egg yolks
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

B:

2 egg whites
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. pecans

Mix ingredients marked (A) all together and press in bottom of greased pan. Beat 2 egg whites until stiff and add the brown sugar and chopped pecans. Spread over pressed dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Cut up and serve.
