This is the recipe I have been trying to find for ages. My mother and my grandmother (both deceased now) always used this sauce over warm blueberry or partridge berry cake. I would rate this as comfort food.

I had lost my mother's recipe for this and upon viewing this recipe, it all came back. Mine was 3/4 cups brown sugar, 1/4 cup butter and 2 cups boiling water. Pinch of salt, 1 tsp. vanilla and 1/2 tsp. cinnamon & 1/4 tsp. nutmeg. Thicken with corn starch in a little bit of cold water. Serve warm over fruit cake or any cake you wish. Hmmm Good!!

Thank you so much for sharing your recipe. Like all the others l lost my grandmothers recipe, but reading this one l knew it was hers as well. It was the cinnamon and nutmeg that did it for me. Making it this Christmas. Again thank you.

Thank you for sharing this recipe! We always had homemade Christmas pudding growing up topped with brown sugar sauce! I can hardly wait to make this a Christmas tradition with my family! My mom is now deceased and I miss her good cooking!
