2 c. unsifted all purpose flour 1 c. salt 1/2 c. cornstarch 1 tbsp. powdered alum 2 c. water 1 tbsp. cooking oil Combine flour, salt and cornstarch and alum in 2 quart dish. Gradually stir in water and oil until just about smooth. Microwave on high, uncovered for 4 1/2 to 5 minutes or until mixture is thick, stirring every minute. Mixture will be very lumpy. TIP: With combination oven, microwave in Step 2 for 6 to 8 minutes. When mixture is cool enough to handle, turn onto countertop and knead until smooth, about 2 minutes. Divide dough into sections and knead in food coloring. Store each color in air tight containers in refrigerator. It keeps for months. |
