YELLOW BUTTER CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
1/2 to 3/4 c. milk

Cream butter. Add sugar, vanilla and eggs; beat 4 minutes until light and fluffy. Add flour alternately with milk. Beat until smooth. Pour into greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
