CHICKEN CASSEROLE | |
4 slices bread, cubed 2 c. diced cooked chicken, or turkey 1/4 c. chopped green pepper 1/2 c. chopped celery 1/2 c. chopped onion 1 stick butter, melted 1/2 c. mayonnaise 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 4 slices bread, cubed 2 eggs, beaten 1 1/2 c. milk 1 (10 and 1/2 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup 1/2 c. grated Cheddar cheese Place 4 slices bread, cubed, in the bottom of a greased baking dish. Mix second set of ingredients. Spoon on top of bread cubes. Top with 4 slices bread, cubed. Mix fourth set of ingredients and pour over bread cubes. Chill overnight or for at least 2 hours. Spoon 1 (10 and 1/2 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup over casserole. Bake in 325 degrees for 1 hour. Top with 1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese. Continue baking until cheese melts. |
