KEY LIME PIE | |
4 egg yolks 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1/2 c. lime juice 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 6 egg whites 3/4 c. sugar Beat egg yolks until yellow. Slowly add sweetened condensed milk. Add lime juice and mix well. Add cream of tartar to egg whites and beat until foamy. Continue beating and add sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, until it peaks. Fold 6 tablespoons of this meringue into filling. Pour filling into baked pie shell. Top with meringue and bake in slow oven, 350 degrees, until golden brown. |
