BRAISED CABBAGE AND APPLES 
1/4 c. water
6 c. shredded cabbage
2 tbsp. cider vinegar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 med. sized cooking apples, cored and sliced
1/2 tsp. granulated sugar

In a large saucepan or skillet (preferably not aluminum) bring water to a boil over moderately high heat; add cabbage, vinegar, and salt and stir to mix.

Cover pot and cook over moderately low heat for 20 to 25 minutes, until cabbage is wilted and tender. Add apples and sugar to pot and cook 5 minutes longer, stirring occasionally, until apples are tender. makes 3 or 4 servings. For diet serving allow 1 1/4 cups. 70 calories per serving.
