SPONGE CAKE | |
1 c. milk 2 c. sifted flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 6 eggs 2 c. sugar 2 tsp. vanilla Heat milk in a small pan until bubbles form around the edge of the pan. Set aside. Sift flour with baking powder and salt and set aside. Beat eggs at high speed until thick and lemon-colored. Gradually add sugar and beat until smooth, about 5 minutes. Blend in flour mixture at low speed, beating just until combined. Add warm milk and vanilla, beating just until combined. Pour immediately into an ungreased 10 inch tube pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool cake completely in pan. Remove and serve plain or with your favorite frosting. |
