MYRTLE'S OLD FASHION APPLESAUCE
CAKE
 
2/3 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/4 c. granulated sugar
3 eggs
1 3/4 c. applesauce
3 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1 3/4 tsp. baking soda put in raisin water 1/4 c.
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Soak raisins in hot water reserve 1/4 cup water for soda to dissolve in. I mix and put flour in raisin and nuts if you wish. I mix this by hand and pat in greased floured pan and bake for 50-60 minutes in 9 x 13 inch pan or cupcakes. Makes real nice small cupcakes.

FROSTING:

1 c. brown sugar
3/4 stick butter
1/4 c. milk

Boil and bring to a boil, cook 3-5 minutes. Add powdered sugar to spread. Never Fail.
