OLD-FASHION CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1/2 c. + 2 tbsp. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
3 c. flour
1 1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat. Add alternately flour and milk, add vanilla and bake at 350 degrees until toothpick comes out clean.

FROSTING:

1 1/2 sticks butter
3 c. sugar
4 to 5 tbsp. cocoa
1 2/3 c. milk

Cook until thick on medium heat. Stir constantly. Frost cake, will drip down sides.
