ENGLISH TRIFLE 
2 pkg. short cakes or 2 raspberry jelly rolls, crumbled
1 lg. can mixed fruit, drained (reserve syrup)
Sherry (regular or cooking)
1 lg. Jello gelatin, mixed fruit or strawberry
Whipped cream or Cool Whip
1 c. hot water
1 lg. glass bowl (attractive)

Prepare 1 cup Jello with boiling water. Add syrup or juice from canned fruit.

In base of bowl, crumble cake or rolls for first layer. Add layer of mixed fruit, some Jello, 2 tablespoons sherry. Continue making layers until all used. When set (3 hours in refrigerator), add whipped cream and cherries for final touch. Serve in attractive cups of stemware.

Can be made day before company and just add whipped cream before serving.
