CHOCOLATE APPLESAUCE BUNNIES | |
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips 2 1/4 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1 1/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. butter, softened 2 eggs 15 oz. jar applesauce Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Melt chocolate chips over hot (not boiling) water. In small bowl combine dry ingredients; set aside. In large bowl combine brown sugar and softened butter; beat until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in melted chocolate. Blend in flour mixture alternately with applesauce. To form bunnies, drop one rounded teaspoon of batter on greased and floured cookie sheet; drop one rounded tablespoon of batter about 1/8" away from first spoonful and allow batter to spread together to form head and body of bunny. Insert 2" aluminum foil ears into top portion of bunny. Space bunny cookies 2" apart on cookie sheets. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from cookie sheets at once. When cooled, decorate with frosting (faces, bow tie, use your imagination). Makes 2 dozen cookies. |
