1 stick butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. flour
3 tbsp. cocoa, rounded
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
2 c. applesauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. chocolate chips
2 tbsp. sugar

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, applesauce and dry ingredients. Mix 2 minutes. To batter, add 3/4 cup chocolate chips. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle top with remaining 3/4 cup chocolate chips, nuts and sugar. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Cut into squares and serve. Freezes well. (I use mini chips for the topping.)
