3/4 c. shortening
1 c. applesauce
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chocolate chips

Cream together shortening and sugar, add applesauce and egg and beat well. Add remaining dry ingredients. Drop by teaspoon on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
