1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. cocoa
2 c. applesauce (not sweetened)
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

TOPPING:

2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 pkg. (6 oz.) chocolate chips, combined

Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs. Beat into shortening-sugar. Add applesauce. Beat together. Combine dry ingredients, add to shortening-sugar mixture. Beat well. Pour into greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Top with chocolate chip-nut mixture. Bake 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
