ORIENTAL BEEF STRIPS 
2 lb. round steak, cut in thin strips
2 tbsp. oil
1/3 c. soy sauce
1/4 tsp. pepper
3 carrots
8 green onions
1 can water chestnuts
2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 c. water
2 tsp. sugar
1 clove garlic
2 green peppers
1/2 lb. mushrooms

Brown meat in oil. Pour drippings and measure with water to make 1 cup. Combine this with soy sauce, sugar, pepper, and garlic. Add to meat. Cover and cook slowly, about 45 minutes. Cut vegetables. Add to meat. Cover and continue cooking.

Combine cornstarch and the 1/4 cup water to thicken for gravy. Serve over rice.
