BREAD PUDDING - LEMON SAUCE | |
8 slices bread, dry, toasted and torn up 1 1/2 sticks butter 1 3/4 c. sugar 2 eggs 4 c. milk 2 tsp. vanilla Few raisins Melt butter in pan, add bread, stir to coat bread. Put in 7 x 11 pan greased, with few raisins if desired. Mix together sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla, and pour over bread. Sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 350 degrees until solid, approximately 30 minutes. May serve with Lemon Sauce. LEMON SAUCE: 1/2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. cornstarch Pinch salt 1 c. boiling water 2 tbsp. butter 1 tsp. grated lemon peel 3 tbsp. lemon juice In saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, and salt; gradually stir in water. Boil, stirring constantly, 5 minutes or until thickened. Add rest of ingredients. |
