OLD FASHION STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
2 c. flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening (heaping)
1 tbsp. sugar
1 c. milk
strawberries

Blend sifted dry ingredients and shortening. Add milk. Stir only to mix and place on well floured board. Roll out 2 layers. Place together in round cake pan (greased and floured) with soft butter between layers.

Bake at 375°F for 20 minutes. Separate layers and put sweetened strawberries between and on top. Top with whipped cream. Serve hot.
