CHOCOLATE SAUERKRAUT CAKE 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
2/3 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs
1 c. water
1/2 c. drained, chopped sauerkraut

Sift together dry ingredients. Cream shortening with sugar until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Add dry ingredients alternating with water, beating until smooth after each addition. Add sauerkraut and mix thoroughly. Pour into greased and floured 13x9x2 pan. Bake 375 degrees for 35 minutes or until done. Cool. Spread with Chocolate Frosting.
