CHOCOLATE CARAMEL LAYER SQUARES 
1 (14 oz.) bag Kraft caramels
2/3 c. evaporated milk
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels

Combine caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk in top of a double boiler, stirring constantly until melted. Set aside. Combine cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, butter and nuts. Mix until dough holds together. Press 1/2 of mixture in a greased 9x13x2-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes.

Sprinkle chocolate morsels over hot crust. Pour caramel mixture over chocolate morsels, spreading evenly. Crumble remaining cake mixture over top of caramel layer. Return pan to oven and bake for 15-18 minutes. Chill 30 minutes. Cut into small bars. Yield: 5 dozen.
