GREEK SESAME SEED COOKIES | |
1 c. butter 1 3/4 c. sugar 2 eggs 2/3 c. toasted sesame seeds 4 c. flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. water Mix butter, sugar and eggs until fluffy. Stir in 1/3 cup of the sesame seeds. Measure flour by dipping method or by sifting. Blend dry ingredients; add alternately with water to sugar mixture. Chill dough until stiff enough to roll, 1 to 2 hours. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Roll dough on lightly floured board into rectangle 1/8 inch thick. Cut dough in strips, 2 1/2 x 3/4 inches. Press one entire side of each strip into dish containing the remaining sesame seeds. Loop one end over at right angle to the other, making bow-knot effect. Place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Makes about 9 dozen cookies. |
