ORANGE FROSTED CARROT BARS 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. finely shredded carrots
1/2 c. chopped nuts
Orange Frosting (recipe follows)

Beat shortening, sugar, egg and vanilla until fluffy. Stir in carrots, nuts and flour mixture until blended. Spread in greased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool Spread with Orange Frosting.

ORANGE FROSTING:

2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. grated orange peel
1 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. orange juice

Mix until smooth.
