SCALLOPED OYSTERS | |
1 qt. oysters 2 c. oysterette crackers 3 tbsp. butter 1 egg 1/2 c. milk 1/2 c. buttered bread crumbs Warm, do not cook, oysters and drain in colander. In baking dish put a layer of oysters, salt, pepper, and bits of butter, then a layer of cracker crumbs (not too fine). Continue arranging in layers until you have used all oysters, oysterette crackers and butter with oysters on top. Break egg into milk; mix well. Pour over the dish of oysters. Cover top with 1/2 cup buttered bread crumbs. Bake it at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until oysters and egg are done. Serve hot. |
