1 pkg. Duncan Hines devil food cake mix
2/3 c. evaporated milk, divided
3/4 c. melted butter
1 c. chopped nuts, optional
6 oz. pkg. chocolate chips
1 pkg. caramels

Mix by hand, the cake mix, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, butter and nuts. Put 1/2 of mixture in greased 9x13 cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Sprinkle chocolate chips over the cake mixture. Melt caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk over low heat or in microwave. Pour melted caramels over the chocolate chips. Crumble remaining cake mixture over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes.
