BEST APPLE PIE 
CRUST:

1/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. butter
2 c. flour
1/3 c. boiling water
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Mix the butter, shortening and flour. Add boiling water, salt and baking powder and mix well. Separate into two balls, place between two pieces of wax paper and roll.

FILLING:

6 or 7 Granny Smith apples
1/4 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. cinnamon
3/4 to 1 c. sugar

Peel, core and slice the apples. Mix sugar and cinnamon lightly through the apples. Heap ingredients in a pastry-lined pie pan, and dot with butter. Cover with the topping crust and slit with a knife to allow steam to escape. Bake 60 to 70 minutes at 425 degrees.
