BEST APPLE PIE | |
1/3 c. shortening 1/3 c. butter 2 c. flour 1/3 c. boiling water 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder Mix butter, shortening and flour. Add boiling water, salt and baking powder. Mix well. Separate into two balls, place between two pieces of wax paper and roll. FILLING: 6 or 7 Granny Smith apples 1 1/2 tbsp. butter 1 tbsp. cinnamon 3/4 to 1 c. sugar Peel, core and slice apples. Mix sugar and cinnamon lightly with apples. Heap ingredients in a pastry lined pie pan and dot with butter. Cover with topping crust and slit to allow steam to escape. Bake 60 to 70 minutes at 425 degrees. |
