SURPRISE BONBON COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. confectioners' sugar (sifted)
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/8 tsp. salt

FILLINGS:

Candied or maraschino cherries
Pitted dates
Nuts or Hershey kisses
Bonbon Icing

TOPPINGS:

Chopped nuts
Coconut
Colored sugar

Mix butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour and salt thoroughly. If dough is dry, add 1-2 tablespoons cream. For each cookie, wrap 1 level tablespoon of dough around a filling. Bake 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until set but not brown. Cool. Dip tops of cookies in icing. Decorate each cookie with one of the toppings.

ICING:

Mix:

2 tbsp. cream
1 tsp. vanilla

If desired add red, green or yellow food coloring.
