CARAMEL BARS 
3/4 c. butter
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
1 1/4 c. unsifted flour
1 1/4 c. quick-cooking rolled oats
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
7 oz. caramels (24)
1/4 c. milk
1 c. (6 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 c. nuts

Microwave butter on high in glass 1/4 or 1/4 minute until soft. Mix in brown sugar, oats, flour, soda, and salt. Press 2/3 of this into an 8-inch pan. Microwave on HIGH uncovered 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, rotating; set aside.

Combine milk and caramels in 4-cup glass measure. Microwave uncovered on HIGH 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, stirring once. Mix until smooth. Sprinkle chocolate pieces and nuts on baked crust. Pour melted caramel mix evenly over chocolate and nuts.

Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Microwave on HIGH uncovered 4 to 4 1/5 minutes or until bubbly throughout, rotating 2 to 3 times. Cool.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
