APPLE DUMPLINGS 
2 c. water
2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/3 c. butter
6 firm apples
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk

Make sauce by adding first 5 ingredients. Cook 5 minutes. Add butter. Peel apples, cut in half and core.

Mix flour, salt and baking powder. Add shortening and milk, mix until moist, roll out 6 equal amounts of dough. Place apple in center of dough, sprinkle with a little cinnamon and nutmeg, a little sugar and a dab of butter. Wrap apple place in 9x13 pan. Pour on sauce and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
