GROUND BEEF TERIYAKI | |
2 tsp. sesame oil 1 lb. lean ground beef 1 cup finely diced onion 1 tsp. minced fresh garlic 1 tsp. minced fresh ginger (or about 1/4 tsp. ground ginger) 3/4 cup thick teriyaki sauce (such as Kikkoman) Jasmine rice or vermicelli, for serving OPTIONAL GARNISHES: sliced green onions toasted sesame seeds crushed red pepper flakes In a large skillet, heat sesame oil over medium-high heat for about 1 minute. Add beef, onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet. Cook, breaking up the meat as you stir, until the beef is well-browned and the onion is translucent. Drain off excess grease. (While beef is cooking, boil the rice or pasta according to package directions.) Stir teriyaki sauce into beef mixture. Bring to a low simmer and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, just until the sauce thickens slightly. To serve, place rice or pasta in shallow serving bowls and spoon the beef mixture over the top. Garnish as desired. Note: Can also be served in warmed tortillas or lettuce wraps with toppings and garnishes of choice. Submitted by: Carol |
