FRENCH TOAST 
6 slices fresh bread
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/4 c. heavy cream
1/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. sugar
1/4 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. grated nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
4 tbsp. peanut, vegetable, or corn oil
Confectioners sugar

In wide platter or plate, beat together the eggs, cream, milk, sugar, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Heat half the oil in skillet large enough to hold about four slices of bread. The slices when added should not be touching.

Dip the slices in the egg mixture to coat well on both sides. Cook until nicely browned on one side and turn. Add more oil to the skillet if necessary. Serve hot sprinkled with a light layer of confectioners sugar.
