CAROLINA HOUSEWIFE'S WEDDING
CAKE OF 1850
 
20 lb. butter
20 lb. sugar
20 lb. flour
20 lb. raisins
40 lb. currants
12 lb. citron
20 nutmegs
1 oz. mace
4 oz. cinnamon
20 glasses apple juice
20 glasses of fruit juice (your choice)

Add cloves to your taste. If you wish to make richer add 2 pounds of currants. Mix and cook until done in large oven at 350 degrees.
