APPLE MARBLE CAKE 
4 c. (4-5 med.) cooking apples, pared & sliced
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. water
1 tbsp. lemon juice

Cook in saucepan over medium heat, stirring gently until apples are tender. Pour into well greased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. 2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. Crisco 1 c. sugar 2 eggs 2/3 c. milk 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. cloves 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. baking soda

Sift flour, baking powder, ginger and salt in bowl. In separate bowl blend Crisco and sugar. Cream well. Add eggs one at a time, then add milk. Combine dry and creamed mixture together alternating, dry ingredients start and end the combination. Place 1/2 batter in separate bowl and add cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg and baking soda. Spoon light and dark batter alternately over apples. Bake in 350 degree oven for 50-60 minutes. Cool. Invert pan.
