ORANGE DATE MUFFINS 
1/2 c. water
1/3 c. butter
8 oz. pkg. dates, chopped
1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. orange juice
1 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cook water, butter, and dates. Add milk and orange juice. Sift flour, baking powder, and baking soda; add to first mixture. Add nuts. Bake at 400 degrees in preheated oven in greased muffin tins for 15 minutes. Yield: 1 dozen.

1 muffin = 1 starch, 1 fruit and 1 fat.
